A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. Rooted in the science of geography, GIS integrates many types of data. It analyzes spatial location and organizes layers of information into visualizations using maps and 3D scenes. With this unique capability, GIS reveals deeper insights into data, such as patterns, relationships, and situations—helping communities make smarter decisions. Visit https://sites.google.com/a/uctestsite.org/informatics/ for up-to-date information on the Upper Cumberland Region.

Here’s what we can do to help you and your community:

  • Make maps (Cartography)
  • Tell you where things are (Location)
  • Tell you what areas meet criteria (Condition)
  • Tell you about temporal changes at a location (Trends)
  • Tell you about spatial patterns that exist (Patterns)
  • Tell you what happens if you do something on the landscape (Modeling)
  • Data management: collection, recovery, storage, retrieval, and cloud access.

Our services are helpful for planning, grant writing, presentations, publications, graphic design, and much more.
